Dear All ,
I have been given 3 choices for electrical wires brands :
1) Havells
2) Anchor
3) Finolex
Kindly suggest which brand is good , thanks in advance ..................
Wire Selection
Re: Wire Selection
most of them are same.. check out prices from 3 different places before making the choice.. the cost depends on whether the seller is distributor or reseller..
quality and costwise, there is marginal difference between the 3 and it doesnt make much impact during installation..
you need to worry about brands and quality while you are choosing switches, lamps etc !
dont buy chinese goods, they dont last beyond 8-12 months at the max

Re: Wire Selection
Hi sandeuz
Wires with respect to top 3 brands you mentioned are all almost same. Few things you need to watch for while buying these wires and during installation
1. There are many fake wires in the same brand name available in the market, so its always better to check for hologram and sealed packs.
2. Most company executives will come and check for genuity of wires, you can call them and get it verified.
3. Standard discount of 40 -45% is common in wires and switches when you buy in bulk .
4. Make sure you use sufficient thick wire as per the loading of the each circuits, using less thick wire will reduce the wire life and they get heated soon.
5. Jointing of wires can happen only in the junction boxes, so all the circuit wires should be joint free to avoid any shorts in future.
6. Earthing wire should be pulled separately for each circuit for better performance of appliances
7. Shock trippers are recommended for safety in case of any earth leak ( shocks )
8. Any exposed or under ground wire should always be core wire so the water wont seep in, there by avoiding earth leaks .

Re: Wire Selection
Finolex is good . whatever brand you buy make sure of 3 points.
1. Full copper wire do not go for Cu - Al joints
2. Right gauge of wire for 15 Amp power points.
3. Estimate thickness of conduit pipe if not yet laid keeping in mind other cables such as CAT5 (networking) , CCTV , TV Cable, speaker wire as well. So identify these points in advance even though you may not go for installation immediately.
