Construction of our Stilt+G+1 project

Post by Marvel »

Hi Folks,

We have started with construction of our Stilt+G+1 residential units which we propose to let out. The footings are done and we are at column pedestal level. I have the following queries and your comments will be appreciated.

1. Sump is to be located between two footings. What would be the ideal gap we should maintain between the sump wall exterior and the footings?
2. Is it fine if the depth of the sump is the same as the footings or should it be different?
3. The sand strike is delaying the project. How good is Robo sand (Manufactured/Grey Sand) for colulmns, sump walls etc? I have heard that is Govt. approved and extensively used in apartment projects.

Hi Marvel,

1. Sump is to be located between two footings. What would be the ideal gap we should maintain between the sump wall exterior and the footings? -------u will need to check with the structural engineer. the sump will need to be above the footing.

2. Is it fine if the depth of the sump is the same as the footings or should it be different?---we had teh same requirement, sump was for 10K lts, the footing for the 1 columns inbetween the sump was moved down lower to about 12 feet(aprox) against normal of about 6feet(aprox), this other one had a rock below so it was maintained at about 6 feet. I guess you will need advise from a structural engineer on this.
3. The sand strike is delaying the project. How good is Robo sand (Manufactured/Grey Sand) for columns, sump walls etc? I have heard that is Govt. approved and extensively used in apartment projects.
--We used River sand mixed with manufactured sand for some of the footings. U will need to get the manufactured sand approved by your engineer as to the aggregates required for RCC. For Sump walls he wants to use river sand only.

Thanks for your inputs Dolphin. My structural engineer's suggestions were almost on the same lines. I now have a second opinion with your comments. I ll keep posting queries here to make the best out of collective knowledge of other owners who have completed/executing their constructions and also that of experts.

Any comments from other members of the forum are also welcome.

Cheers
