Re: PVC or any Manufactured Doors and Windows
I couldn't answer you on if it is cheaper or longer lasting.
Check on the web for advantages of UPVC over wood, there are many which tout that it is a lot better. Anyways, we have decided with UPVC for one reason only - that is maintenance in the long run. Wood windows look great when new and then with weather they tend to look very beat up (unless you maintain it by polishing/varnishing/painting etc. on a very regular basis). UPVC on the other hand looks clean for years. We have these windows for over 15 years on our home and so far, they look as good as new. We don't even have the wood like appearance (just white ones) and that looks great.
Fenesta does have colours - like light oak, dark mahagony. I found others German make (I believe) which have more colour options, but they are very expensive - not that Fenesta is cheap either.
Good luck.

Re: PVC or any Manufactured Doors and Windows
There are some vendors such as Sintex that manufacture UPVC windows that would probably be slightly cheaper than wooden (teak) windows. But they are not good. In general UPVC windows are expensive when you factor in the cost of grill, etc. However some of the UPVC window manufacturers give 20 year warranty. So they are likely to serve you well for a longer duration than wooden windows. UPVC windows provide better dust and sound protection, contributing to a healthier living environment.

Just wanted to revive this old thread....I enquired the prices with finesta. They are between 900 to 1500/ SFT. While I compare the price difference between the conventional wood to Finesta, say for a 4.5x4.5 size, I have got a estimate for 10K for Sal wood (french window design), inclusive of grill & painting. If we were to consider Finesta, without grill, it would cost 18K+.
PS: Finesta is launching the grill incorporated windows this month !!

Re: PVC or any Manufactured Doors and Windows
I have a few questions:
1) I saw on Fenesta website that they don't offer windows with security grills and that we have to take care of installing grills as part of masonary work. I feel doing so will make the window look odd and ugly. Local workforce may not be aware of how to achieve this grill embedded in the wall. Has anyone used such windows and managed to incorporate the security grills effectively?
2) How about aluminium windows? What are the disadvantages in using them?
3) Which window type is the cheapest?
4) What to do for window frames? If we use manufactured doors (UPVC, aluminium etc.).. do we still have to get the window frame separately?
5) Which are the good showrooms or retailers in Bangalore that i can visit and get an idea of how manufactured doors look, feel and cost?
Please help!

One more question that i forgot to ask:
6) Are there any manufactured windows (UPVC, aluminium etc.) available that have security grills embedded in them already?

Re: PVC or any Manufactured Doors and Windows
get in touch with Madhu industries. They have upvc windows with grill. It will come to ~500 Rs/sqft half of what fenesta people quote. They have german profile. website is www.madhuindustries.com. For my project i had approached them but Red-sal frame and Honne shutters turned out to be cheaper for me hence dropped the idea of upvc.
Thanks
Thanks

@dream_home....you are right. Combination of red-sal/ honne is quite cheaper.
What is the CFT quote for the wood please. I am told that the same in Hoskote would cost much less???
