Use of PVC Sheets behind cabinets

Does using of PVC Sheets benihd the cabinets/ wadrobes help in putting an extra layer of preventive measure againt mositure/ bugs ?
I was looking for some thign like that and this was a suggestion from H/W shop owner who has done this in home.
They have pulled regular plastic sheets .

Any one done ? or have ideas pro/cons on this.

My carpenter has done this for the wardrobe that was built on the outside facing wall. It certainly helps controlling damage by moisture. However, it will not protect against bugs (termites etc).
IMO, worth going for it.
