Post by SathishSarod »

Hi All,

Also I would like to know if I need to seek permission of any soft for borewell digging. Any specific things which I need to be cautious about?

Hi Velu,
I have consulted a Geologist and we have already identified the Yield points upto 3. I have made my mind to go for it. That is the reason I would like to know the current charges I might encounter.

Here are my rates ( done two weeks back)...

Digging charges
--------------
0-250 Rs64
250-350 Rs.74
350-450 Rs 84

MS Casing Pipe ( Brand Caltube , 2mm thick)
---------------
Rs 280 per rft

PVC Casing
-----------------
Rs. 320 per rft

Bore Bata
-------------
Rs 350

Transportation Charges
---------------
Rs 350

Welding
-----------------
Rs 100 per welding

Collar
-------------
Rs 100

Remember the following things while going
--------------------------
1. Diviner is just an eye wash ( This is purely mine and my 20 year experienced contractor's opinion ). Without getting convinced, I paid Rs 1000 for a diviner. After the process, I got myself convinced that its a mere fraud. Go for a location which is most practically suitable for you. Be aware of the rough depth in which neighbors got water.
2. Only use PVC casing if very much necessary. Most of the places in Bangalore does not need it , but still the bore well guys try to insist for it, by telling something like "Sir its really loose soil, we prefer you using a PVC casing" with an ending like "finally its ur decision". They know that , this told, you would go for casing. Here also see if your neighbors used it. In general, if the area requires casing, then only go for it.
3. Dont get cheated with cheaper digging charges like Rs 58 per running feet. They get the profit adjusted against the unnecessarily used PVC casing mentioned in point 2.
4. When MS casing is told as 2.5mm , its actually 2mm only. Nobody measures the thickness with a Vernier Caliper and these guys take advantage of it. So if somebody quotes the MS casing details as 2mm , then probably he is telling the truth. AFAIK, after 2mm, the next available thickness is 2.8mm which is very costly. There are two brands for MS casing, Caltube and Laxmi. Both are good but somebody told me to go for caltube and hence insisted on it.

Friends...I would like to differ on some issues:

1. Diviner/ Geologist - They are in the profession for a purpose. The land/ site does not sit on a river bet, where you can drill straight down & extract water...Sorry, this does not work this way. Water flows in tributaries below ground & the width of the tributary varies from place to place along with the lines. They are not in straight lines again. It is not a thumb rule that if a neighbour gets water at a 100 feet depth, you will be able draw water at the same depth. Example, my neighbour has a well drilled for 800 feet, drawing mostly muddy water even now & I have a good yeild at 500 feet.

2. PVC casing - well, yet to come across a place in bangalore where pvc casing isn't required, unless it is a rock drill.

MS casing is not done all the way down ...its just only upto the point where you hit the rock...generally its somewhere between 40ft to 150 ft ....

Can I know the rules laid down for digging the bore well. There is a common bore well in front of my plot (TC Palaya) which is 30 ft away. Is there any restriction to dig the bore well on my plot. Any permission has to be obtained from authorities. Who is maintaining the common bore wells.
