submersible motor + HDPE Pipe & cablelength

Post by velu »

Hi

I got two quotations from the SP Road shops for the submersible motor ..

(total yield:1.5 :480 ft,640ft,680ft total depth is 705 ft)
driller said there could be a diff of 20ft or 30ft of what he has gn but yield is surely 1.5

One has gn 1"1/4 HDPE Pipe 189 mt 10kg isi(Mangala) :Rs.14100 &
cable :200 mtr 4sqmm(isi miso) :16000
@2nd:
1 HDPE Pipe 182mt 10k:10556
cable 2.5sqmm finolex 137mtr:7809

Which are the best brands for HDPE pipe and the cable available in the market and also plz tell me which is the correct cable & HDPE pipelength
i should go for. as both are quoting different lenths and dm.

thanks

After going through multiple cons of borewell drillers and motor dealers, i decided to study the subject myself.

For motors: Grundfos( world's largest pump manufacturer) has released DAB pumps . DAB makes ONLY water pumps and is way ahead of kirloskar/texmo etc. Go to their website www.dabpumps.com and find out for yourself and you could size it easily. Both water filled and oil filled motor exist.Buy water filled motor.
Now sizing of the pump: you need to findout to what depth you will sink the pump and calculate wha is the head needed. For ex: if it is 700 feet below ground, add about 50 ft. for the house height.
Find out what is the yield in your borewell. Forget the driller, he is done and will never revert with any date. As a thumb rule, 3 inches - 155 lts per minute. 2inches-96 lts per minute., 1.5 inches is about 50 lts per minute.
If the yield is less than 1 inch or less think well because your expense to operate the borewell will be higher than cost of buying water!

Now coming to the other components:
1. HDPE pipes: Rishi pipe. 10kg/m2- Lenth of the pipe will be equal to to the depth of the pump level
2. electric cable: Finolex-2.5 mm.
3. Starter: Shanti/Adarsh . approx. Rs 2100. Use a ECU starter rather than ordinary starter. This provides increased torque .

All the best!

I have used: DAB s4-32 stage, RISHI, Finolex for my borewell.

Water : 1.5 inches at 170 ft. 2.5 inches at 380 ft. Went till 450 feet.
Sunk the pump till 400 ft.

Cheers!

for a depth of 705 feet, 2 HP 30 stage will NEVER WORK !!
2.5SQ MM electrical cable for that depth/ motor rating is DANGEROUS !!
The HDPE/ Electrical quotes are on the higher side for the brand offered.
The best HDPE brands are Raksha/ Rishi/ Super (from AP, this is quite superior).

You could visit Raghavendra agencies on Mariswamappa lane. The guys around that JC road are a bunch of cheats !!

2) PDPE pipe for a)350 and b)550
3) Cable, finolex, what dimension for a)350 and b)550

I have bought VGUARD submersible. The advantage is that, it comes with a VGUARD starter/ control panel, which is best impedence matched !! For 550 feet, you have to have a 4SQ mm cable. The stage of the motor is calculated as (stage # x 22 Feet). If you plan to use the same motor to drive the water to the overhead tank, you also might consider the height of the building & add that to the borewell depth.

Guys,

I have been asked to go for "Mahendra" pump as the after sales service of Texmo is a problem of late. I also heard from a couple of my friends (who had installed Texmo) that their pumps are faulty and requires service a couple of times a year. I have to agree that a few others who had Texmo had a lot of trouble free years.

Wanted to get the opinion of the forum members on how "Mahendra" is. Has any one installed it & their experience so far

Thanks

Apart from adding the height of the building to the well depth to arrive at the pump head, we would also need to add the pressure drop in the pipe itself. Pressure drop value would be dependent on the type of pipe used and the length of the pipe. I agree on the reliability of the Grundfos pumps though.
