Use - Robosilicon sand instead of River sand.

Post by meharnath »

Hi,

Due to the lorry strike, high prices of river sand, and also for ecological considerations, there is an alternative sand called Robosilicon sand, transformed from normal granite stones, with a 4 stage process. This sand is Zone-II complaint fine aggregate and has been tested by CIVIL AID lab for its usage in concreting, and rough cement mortar purposes. This sand is not suitable for block masonry or cement plaster purposes.
Concrete cubes tested gave very satisfactory results. The price of this sand varies between 27 to 30/- per cft depanding upon the location. :D
I recently bought sand @ Rs.100/- per cft = 35000/- for 360 cft - very good kollegal sand.
Interested owners / builders, may google search for robosilicon sand and make use of this stone sand, and save valuable river sand for further generations.

Recently for my compound foundation work where boulders are placed first for 1.5 ft i used quarry dust @17 rs/cft much much lesser than robosand which was quoting @27 rs/cft. The outcome was excellent. I feel for those kind of work the borewell dust which you get, or the quarry dust is sufficient, robosand will be costly.

Hi,
The stone dust is not suitably graded. However the robosilicon sand is graded with fineness, and can be tested positive for a sieve analysis test. Please don't use quarry dust for all concreting or foundation works. To test as an alternative to sand, it has to be graded and tested in lab.
