Glass Blocks or Bricks

Hi All

I am constructing a duplex house and planning to use Glass Blocks/Bricks in places near the stairs, study room, dining area and pooja room.

How ever I have these questions, Please help me on these -

1. Basic Price of Glass Blocks/Bricks
2. Sizes in which it is available
3. Is there any special construction method
4. Is it durable and safe.

Hi All

Please can some atleast let me know the cost of the Glass Blocks, so that I can decide on the budget.

I am asking this on this forum since I am not in India and cannot go to a local hardware shop to equire.

Glass block are 2 types Chinese , Malaysian make .Chinese will rage 110-140 & malaysian 170 -200 per brick.They are available in 7"x7",10"x10" standard sizes.On top of these you get spanish or italian make glass brick in the same size of red brick.They will cost about 500 - 600 /- per brick.

The glass block are fixed using clear silicon,opening sizes should be left to the exact size of glass block.They vary in mm from brand to brand.so buy a sample give to the mason.In general granite border would be a great idea for finishing.

Using a branded silicon like Dr.Fixit would be a good idea.
