No we did not purchase log. We had ordered teak wood of size 8 x 4 feet which is not standard. Hence mill guy said they will cut the log and show us the pieces for selection. Honne wood was already in cut pieces.

So as told earlier I am giving the break up of the wood buying

Wood type. Size. Quantity.(cu ft) Price. Unitprice

Honne. 6x4. 7.33 17959. 2450
Honne. 5x3. 40.83. 91868. 2250
Teak. 6x3. 2.75. 10450. 3800
Teak. 8x4. 5.55. 28860. 5200

Total 56.46 cubic feet

Planning charges 5650 (100 rs per cubic feet)
That, design and cement groove. 6775 (120 rs per cu ft)
Gst 18%

So actual price as per cubic ft came to 1.88 lakhs. We got a exemption of 13k at end and we got a bill of 1.75 lakhs.so how we distribute those 13k to wood price is left to us as 13k distributed to that 56 cubic feet will come to massive 232 rs per cubic feet.

So highlights

1) Prices of wood of standard size and non standard sizes vary a lot. As shown above. So if you are on budget go for standard sizes.
2) planning and that&design charges are 100 rs per cubic ft as standard
3) Taxes are 18%.but at what bill. That is negotiable.
4) honne quality is standard everywhere. If you want peace of mind wrt quality go for honne.
5) All other woods please double check on each log multiple times.
6) Bevu was available at 750. But quality needs to be checked.
7) as one of group member saran pointed out , we took all beadings with us. But carpenter said that beadings if used immediately will be used if not if it dries nails will not sit up.
8) As I said earlier knowing wood measurements is the most key part .

Wood measurement in Cubic feet

Calculating cubic feet for different units (formulae)

From feet: length (ft) × width (ft) × height (ft) = cubic feet

From inches: length (in) × width (in) × height (in) ÷ 1728 = cubic feet(most recommended one )

From yards: length (yd) × width (yd) × height (yd) × 27 = cubic feet

From cm: length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) ÷ 28316.85 = cubic feet

From meters: length (m) × width (m) × height (m) × 35.314667 = cubic feet

Hi Rashmi,

I have really good quality wooden furtiveness that I plan on upcycling. Would you happen to know a good skillful carpenter who charges reasonably for upcycling

I have 2 carpenter details. One referred by our family fruend and another who had renovated our Waldroof. The second guy work is good, but bit costly. First guy since he came through reference ,we believe he should be good. We don't take reference unless we know the person referring has built houses and trustable. Have pmed you both their numbers.
