Sand type for Footings and Columns

Hi All,

Is it a good idea to go for River sand only for Footings and Columns.. and use M-sand for other areas of the building.
What is the general recommendation. Please suggest.

River sand if available and price is not high compared to M sand , use it for whole building . How much is the cost per M3 for each?
