1) Steel - I am planning to go either for TATA Tiscon or JSW Neo.What is the size of the steel you have used for the foundation like 14 mm or 16 mm?
can i get the dealer details from where you are sourcing the JSW Steel?

- I gone with JSW Neo (Current Price is 48000 per ton), It is one of best steel in the Industry, the rate is raising abnormally
We used 16mm, 12mm & 10mm for our Footing, It depends on your structural drawings and analysis done by your Engineer (Go as per suggestion)
I purchased from Sri Venkateshwara Enterprises near Kanaka Nagar(Hebbal), Ph No : 9071300941 (Shashi)

2) Bricks - Wire Cut Clay bricks - You are getting the brick for a very fare rate. Can i get the sourcing details for the same?

- Our Wire cut Clay bricks are very good (Solid strength), Purchased from Venkateshwara Bricks (VBT or SVV), they given me good price,
Now they are selling at 7.50/- per brick , I recommend anybody for this vendor , Contact Driver Rajneesh ( 8884389568), he will coordinate with Factory

3) M- Sand - How to check the quality of the M- Sand? As of now i am sourcing it from a factory in Tekkel near Kolar.

- To be frank, I gone with our Neighbour's advise and our Structural engineer checked it and found good.
I used M sand only for Footing, Pillars, Plinth beam, Roof Slab.
All the Rest of the activities (Wall Construction, Plastering) was done by River Sand (From Harihar Sand @ 60000 for 10 Wheeler load)

Hello All,

What do you think the ideal size of windows for a individual floor? I am considering the height of the window to start above 4ft from the floor. Please advice and let me know your inputs on the same.

Hi Humayun,

It depends on the Height of the Window designed for your house from aesthetically and Air Circulation point of view.
Usually the Ideal height of the Windows would be from 4 to 6 Feet, The lintel height would be always 7 Feet from the Floor, So the Windows and doors will be kept below that Lintel. If you are keeping 4 Feet from the ground means the height of your Windows would be only 3 feet. Not suggestible for Rooms/Living Room. Could be fine for Kitchens.

Please check your planned Window heights - Ideal height would be 2.5 Feet from the Floor.

@ Ravikumar : Rotating the Column from the Original design is not suggestible from Structural Point of view. I have n't done this type of changes.
Please check with your Structural Engineer on this Option. As the Beam position is also mapped with Pillar direction.
If the size of the Pillar is smaller - 9 x 12 or 12 x 15 might be possible. But Structural Experts opinions is must on this cases.

I am not the right person for this suggestion.

with regards to window dimension ,... how about 2 feet width and 6 feet height basically one feet from ground floor as we set lintel height for 7 feet ?

Hi Ravikumar,

You are correct, in that case the height of wall would be 1 feet from Floor and 6 Feet would be your Window Height below the Lintel.

I suggest you to fix the Windows during the Wall Construction instead of later after wall construction. Fitment will be good & you need to break the Bricks and double work can be avoided.

I come across 3 brands and all seems to be good.

1.Jindal

2.Kitex

3. Vega

Quality is good and available.

There are Plumbers who can install these pipes.

I have yet to understand Cost and other aspects.
