Dear Sagar,

No of attempts is the first criteria and within that Seniority is the next criteria.
More number of attempts needed for smaller size sites, as majority of the applicants subscribe for either 20X30 or 30X40.

For a 30X40 site, at least 7 attempts needed, if you are in general category.

Nagendra: Once the allotment list is announced, refunding of the unsuccessful applicants starts.
Probably in a month time you will get back your initial deposit. It will be directly credited to your account and an intimation
will be sent to your address for the same.

As per BDA Norms, they don't pay any interest for your deposit, which was one of the T&C
while you applied for it and you have already accepted it.

Hi inagendra: the rough timeline from now is as follows:
1. BDA releases provisional list (2nd Jul) - done
2. Objections on the provisional list if any, can be filed by the general public by 30-Jul
3. BDA clears these objections within "10 days" (??!!) and then releases the final list. (When BDA says 10 days, it could be any number of days or months or years )
4. After releasing the final list, BDA begins refunding of deposits.
5. Earlier years, they mailed a cheque to the address provided - typically took upto a month to be delivered from the date that BDA started refunds. This year, they have claimed that refunds will be done by NEFT, but this remains to be seen
6. In no event will BDA provide an interest on the deposit amount. As msn1270 pointed out, this is already a clause in the application and also on the BDA website (http://www.bdabangalore.org/allotmentgeneral.html)

No need to do anything from our end to get the refund - it happens automatically, but slowly

Refunding of the initial deposit for the unsuccessful applicants may start from mid of next month, after the final allotment list.

Congratulations to all the allotees in KG Layout!
Now the trouble starts as we need to pay full amount( heavy amounts for 40X 60 & 50X80 ) within Oct end even before the sites are developed.
It is a double whammy for us - the site cost is very high & and BDA takes full payment now but takes 5 years to develop the layout.
I urge all the allotees to represent this to BDA commissioner-
Request for reduction in the price -
Allow stage wise staggered payment of the remaining amount in 2 years & complete the layout development in 2 years
Register the site only after complete development

If every body represents this, then BDA would definitely yield to this.
