Bathroom partition
Bathroom partition
I am planning to put a 'hard' partition (no showerr screens) in our bathroom to separate out wet and dry areas.
I am not looking for a cubilcle. I only need to put a sliding 'partition' for one side.
Remaining 3 are existing walls of bath room.
I would like to know if there is any material other than 'tempered' glass which can
be used ? Also, where I can get this done.
Any other alternative solution for this also welcome.
Thanks

Re: Bathroom partition
Hi,
Bath room partitions are mostly preferred in plain glass(toughened).
First preferred will be frame less glass with patch fittings and sealing the gaps with silicon. In this the advantage is that ,there will be no chance for soap settlements on the partition.
Second option will be glass with frame in steel/aluminium .In this regular cleaning is required in the joints and glass inserted in the frame.
Few precautions while selecting the partition.
1.Prefer only plain glass, frosted will be most difficult to clean the soap settlements .
2.In case you want frosted keep the frosted part on to the outer side.
3.Use clear silicon to fill the gaps between glass and walls
4.Use only toughened glass for frame less
5.Min 12mm for framed partition as safety precaution

Re: Bathroom partition
Very useful information. what would the approximate cost of a frameless partition for a 5' wall be?
Re: Bathroom partition
Have you considered using PVC panels instead of glass? It may not give you a rich look, longevity is far higher in case of PVC.

Will have to look into it. I did not see any info on that on websites. Can you please provide me any links that you might have with info on PVC panels. I will try my search again. Thanks.

Re: Bathroom partition
Hi Tvsh,
I would recommend to go for polycarbonate instead of PVC .It good looking and good life time. One problem with this is that you cannot use high concentrate detergents and acids to clean.

Re: Bathroom partition
Thanks Praveen for the inputs.
I did some search on glass partiion.
But I havent decided on anything for my bathroom.
May be info useful for others.
I got 2 sources. Both are partition with frame and sliding type.
One in Shivajinagar -6 mm tempred glass.
4 ft width (my requirement) , standard 6.5' height. Both sides handles.
Price 10500+800 installation charge.
Second one is in Home Town Marathalli.
8 mm toughened glass, 4 ft wdith, 6.5 height with both side handles
Price 14k all inclusive
Around 16 k if width is 5 ft.
Since for me the sliding door is the only option, i had assumed that frameless parition is not
applicable to me. But I think I am wrong . I saw some pics where frames are seen only
on the floor, effectively making it frameless.
Right now, I am checking the price of toughned/tempered glass and other parts to see if I can provider the material
and get it done by someone. May be it will be cheaper. Anyone has info pls let me know.
@tvsh
Any info on what kind of PVC panels can be used ?
Thanks
