Vitrified Tiles: Need suggestions

Post by ramji14 »

Hi ,

I am planning for vitrified tiles for my house. I had a check on several brands as below ones:
Hall+ kitchen flooring : Orient, Kajaria, RAK, somany (double charge), price ranges from 85 to 110
Bathroom & bedroom flooring: Orinda, Slogon, Spanio, Oswal, eternity (nano digital polished or matte finish) , proice ranging from 50 to 70.
Even though we genrally go by the design and patterns..... I just wanted to know on the reviews on these with this price range. Any complaints of we go with this cheap price ranges. Pls provide your valuable suggestions.

If you notice wording like imported tiles without specifying the origin (that means they are from China), stay away. The dealers have unbelievable margins on them and rip you off. RAK is from Middle east.
Please do not spend too much on flooring tiles as your furniture would block most of the area anyway. Bathrooms are showcase rooms, have good quality wall tiles and quite rough flooring to avoid skids. You can pour some little water and rub your feet on the bathroom flooring tiles and can easily judge the anti-skid factor.
Kitchen wall tiles can be very elegant (you can get spanish or Jaipur blue tiles which would look fabulous with the right kind of lighting). Also you can opt for tiles which are off production (buy a little more incase some tiles get damaged later on and you will have some stock handy to replace, and which can be bought for as low as 40/sq.ft. Some of the designs can be very catchy)
Also you need to decide whether you require 600x600 or 600x900 or 900x900 size tiles.

Thanks bloremanager for your help....
What does Off production tiles means "factory out let" ones???? The price range I have seen for bathroom(wall+floor) is around 60...flooring includes matching tiles as that of wall tiles. How about kajaria...We had a check on the kajaria website...there are loads of patterns and the tiles shop person says 'you can give the code# and I can get samples in 2 days'. In parallel, i am checking online catalogue....

Regarding sizes : I am planning to go for smaller ones(300x450) for rooms and bigger ones(600x600) for hall, kitchen.... does sizes 600x900 or 900x900 look good...People say if the packing is not done properly, it tiles would bend and will be prone to cracking sometimes. Pls guide me.

off-production means those tiles are no longer actively produced or the company has brought new design/pattern and wishes to phase out older designs
900x900 size tiles may give a larger appearance for your area than it is in reality(House layout matters here). Granite slabs (huge ones at that) are installed and there are no issues if laid properly. It all depends on the skill of the layer. Go for minimum 600x600 (300x450 looks too small and more effort is required to lay them as number of tiles to be laid are more)
