Re: Buying experience Hinges and Fixtures
That's very good price, lowest i got was for 230/packet (wpcs) for Ebco friction stay, may be i will try them for my next set of magnum fixture..
Re: Buying experience Hinges and Fixtures
need recommendation (brand/type/cost) for these:
* window regular hinges
* window hinges for 180 degree opening shutters
* bay window hinges (opening < 90 degrees preferrably)
* window shutter that opens 180 degrees that can be stuck to a wall using a magnet or male/female pin combination
raghu & others?

window HInges
depends how you want, normal hinges. i went for Friction stay hinges from Ebco. not only on cost wise (per window, you need to use a pair which is 225-240, depending on where you buy). these hinges does not need a stay to hold the shutter. you leave it at any position.
always see what's the thickness of hinge, they start from 2mm, depending on window height/weight you need to select thickness. also see if you can go for hinges with bearing which enable smooth operation
for 180 degree(parliamentary hinges), i chose a commercial brand called president, magnum were not in stock and these were ready and i took 4mm thickness and felt i could have gone to 3mm as well

raghu,
how to determine the thickness one would need for the hinges?
btw, do you mind uploading a picture of - ebco friction stay hinge and also the parlimentary hinges for 180 degrees?

I am happy about it, particularly mine being a corner site and lot of wind. no need to run around house fixing windows. no issues that i can notice as of now. its been 6 months since they have installed

Hi ,
Friction stays are little maintenance issue if you place it horizontal .using it vertical is not an issue as long as you keep oiling once in a year or so . Any hardware like hinges ,frictions stays ,locks that get exposed to external weather need some maintenance for long life .
