Curtian rod

Post by vpbs_bak »

I need to get curtain rods for the windows.

1. what is the best material
2. How does it work - is it fixed by length or we should take measurements on site and buy
3. Where can we buy these rods at good price

Bala ,

It Normally comes 12ft long(each rod) and price starts from 10 to 12 rs/sq ft and you have to do a measurement yourself on site and divide the total length by 12 and bring the number of rods that u need.

The rods can be purchased from any hardware shop and it comes in different colours and some also come in stainless stell and it depends on your choise to chose from the colour that u have painted at your house.

Along with the rods you may also need to but the brackets needed for fixing this rods on either side of the door or window(two in number for each door/window).The total number of brackets u need is dependent on the doors and windows that u need the curtain rods to be fixed.you also need a lot of nails which comes in kilos and ideally for a residential house u need less than 250 gms of nails.

Addition to this u may also need something called wooden chake (small round wooden pieces which are nailed to teh wall on top of which teh brackets are fixed).Teh number of wooden chake u need is teh same as that of the brackets.

Ideally a carpenter charges 150 rs / window or door as fixing charges and if less u are lucky and if its a lot more then look at another carpenter.

good luck and dont go for any carpenter work using play wood as they loot you quoting sq ft costs.

Curtain rods are typical old fashion nowadays. Instead, you can get resort type ambiance for cheaper cost when the windows are wider. Use two Curtain tracks which costs around 130/sqft. One for sheer curtain and another one for non-transparent heat resistant curtain. which actually brightens and keeps your area cool and beautiful.

the installation charges should not be more then Rs800 for entire thing.

raj,

there are two curtains in the below photo. The transparent is called as sheer curtain and non-transpoarent usually will be thick opaque , usually
thermal resistant curtain.

To attach this, we need curtain tracks.
