There are lot of brands - Universal cable - is the manufacture under the brand UNISTAR- Which is very costly for copper they are charging around 550 Rs per meter .,In Market if you go and ask they will give you universal cable - without the brand name unistart which will cost 375rs -

Above 16 Sqmm size all the ARAL LTUG cables are of 3.5 core only. their is no much difference between universal or Havell's cable. you can go for any LTUG cable of good make confirming to IS standards .Please note that, domestically used LTUG cable is made of aluminium and 3.5 x 25 sqmm cable shall cost around or below Rs 200/mtr.If you search a bit u will get cable at good price.

I bought 16sqmm 4 core Copper 30 meter from chandan traders around 10500 Rs - All the shop keeper will ask to buy aluminum for 16sqmm 4 core it is 75 Rs per meter - www.unistar.co.in

cover the universal cable with PVC or GI tubes for protection. is this the right thing to do?

Any one has purchased SBEE cable (25sqmm, 4core) for main electric cable. My electrical guy is telling it is good and price is 130-140 / meter. What is the precaution for laying underground these cable.

ltug are aluminium only,copper is a over kill, they are already armored with several layers and designed to be laid as is.
