I opted for Galvanized steel of 0.6 mm thickness - Reason being that its light on my pocket and enough for home kitchens.
They have different units which make up the whole kitchen, price varies from Unit to Unit. For galvanized steel it varies from 11,000 to 35,000. Hinges are Hettich comes with lifetime warranty. Any additional fittings inside the Units can be bough seperately according to our needs. Few colour options are available. You can contact Tony from Beth Kitchens on 8088526205 and visit his showroom nearby Jayadeva hospital.

My Kitchen looks like below...colour are just representation only, my final colour will vary.

this is a good option.

Normally playwood work costs around 850 to 1000 rs/sq ft (labor + material) so when you say "For galvanized steel it varies from 11,000 to 35,000" i am not sure how it works out.

You can approach few vendors to give quotation for Modular kitchen and compare it with steel, by the way the its not about saving cost by choosing steel, steel will be expensive when compared to Average wood work.

Ravi,
Will just the skeleton be of steel or are the cabinet doors and the slab are also of steel. I had seen one with everything in steel, but was told that there will be changes of dings on the steel due to any impact some times and will get noticed as small dings cannot be removed. Any info on that?

Hi,

The cabinet is steel including the doors...its like a box with six sides and has epoxy paint on it, i haven't seen people using steel slab in homes, they are usually used in hotel kitchens. Heavy impacts may cause dents but chances are rare...in case of deep dents the door alone can be replaced and since its steel it has resale value unlike wooden cabinets which have no resale value.
There are few more stainless steel fabricators like Chromatica which are expensive but have beautiful kitchen models. They also supply SS slab and SS wall cladding.

At the end of the day its a personal choice to choose between wood / SS / Steel. My architect didn't like Steel but i wanted it for the following factors...
1. Easy to maintain and clean, also hygiene
2. Long lasting
3. Durable
4. water resistance
5. Fabricated in factory, hence no joins or holes which avoids rodents / insects
6. No termite headache
7. Resale value

Have you decided on the UPVC vendor? I'm considering LG vs Fenesta. LG cheaper but not sure about the future maintenance

I haven't decided yet, I am going to buy mid range UPVC, Fenesta is expensive and hence not approached them. Below are few quotations which i received so far...

LG quote - 620 Rs
Torwin - 600 Rs
Madhu Industries - 550 Rs
Spiker - 600 Rs

I am getting quotation from few other vendors soon in coming days...
