Dear Praveen
How the panelling measurement is taken , for Ex: for a opening of 8'x4' ( panelling is done for 9" width and 1" thickness with Plywood and Veneer)
Carpenter is taking 8'x4" =32 sqft
according to me 8+8+4+4=24 sqft.
Can you pls clarify, as capenter is taking entire area of opening

Hi krishna
Your calculation is correct ,it is taken in running feet multiplied with agreed per sft panel rate.
8+8+4+4 = 24rft x per sft price

Dear Praveen
Thank you very much, also i have done a Panelling+Box work( partition and Glass work),at the entrance of the Verandah and Kitchen for Panelling( At 150) i am measuring with Rft calculation as above and for Box( At 250), you can see the attached picture, Box is marked with //(Basically Glass work), can you see my calculation, is this the correct way, but carpenter wants to charge me for the entire opening for both Kitchen and Verandah at Length x BreadthX 250, which one is correct, can you pls help( as if the entire Area is calculated for the calculation as Box, he is simply want to charge for the empty space also)
Your help in this regard is highly appreciated

Hi all,

I just got quote for kitchen and wardrobe labour charges. Material to be supplied by me.

kitchen
Rs 450 per sqft for below granite slab
350 for above granite slab - chimney level
275 for above loft

wardrobes 300 per sq ft.

Can you please let me know if these charges are ok?
He mentioned measurement is width x height.
Is there any hidden charges/things I need to be aware of?

@raju2013

The rates seems to be very high as far as I know.
Recently my relative and myself did some interiors work with labour contact.
Following are charges

1. Kitchen - 250 rs/sqft
2 wardrobe - 250 rs/saft
3. loft : 200 rs/sqft
4 .Panelling - 150 /ft

Since materials are supplied by you, not much scope for surprises.
But ensure that , whoever you choose, does a decent job. If possible ask him to show previous work.
Make sure you make frequent visit (at least weekends) when work is going on.

@Raju,

Prices quoted are very high,

I recently got my wood work done at J P Nagar 8th phase and following were the rates.

Kitchen 240/-
Wardrobe 200/-
Lofts 160/-
Prices were fixed around 8 months back, he may quote 5-10% extra or do it for the same rate.

He did pretty good job.

Thanks all for reply.
I see that kitchen labour rates are rs 250 per sq ft.
does this include basket/tandem box fixing and 2 side lamination labour also?
Carpenter is claiming including those charges, its Rs 450 per sq ft.

Raju
