Deep aiagonal, Horizontal cracks in RCC walls

Hi All

I have bought a house from a local builder after it was constructed 4 years ago. It is column based house. It has developed deep diagonal, horizontal and vertical cracks on all interior and exterior walls. Also the frames of the doors and windows developed gaps, photos attached. I can observe some hollow sound below the granite in some places. No house plan is available. Please let me know if anyone knows what can be the problem and any vendor who can provide services like inspection, analysis and repairing.

Pravin,

Seems like an issue with:
1. low quality sand being used for plastering or
2. not enough curing done or
3. Not enough cement used

Thanks for the quick reply and message.

One of my cousin who visited the house told that horizontal and diagonal cracks might be due to sinking of soil below the house. Can this be the cause?

My house is in KR Puram area.

highly unlikely. Looks to me like Plastering cracks as well. Can you please check how deep the cracks are? Did u notice any cracks in the blocks or columns etc?

As of now there are no cracks in the columns. I also observed hollow sound below some granite tiles. Walls are made of brick and the depth of the cracks in some places is more than 3 inches as in the first pic, so he told that beyond the plastering, the bricks also got cracked in the wall. Soil here means the soil that is used for raising the height of the house, that is filled by the builder. I have seen cracks all along where wall meets floor(pics attached, white lining is white cement filling I did to close the cracks but it appeared again) and got one doubt. What happens if water goes below the flooring? Will the soil sink due to this water?

Hi Praveen
These are clear settlement cracks.Its very unlikely to happen plastering cracks in the mid of a brick wall.These cracks are either because of plinth level filled soil has settled now or a structural level settlement .
You wont see any cracks in the column ,you can observe for cracks between column and beam joint if any.

This looks like cracks due to uneven settlement of foundation. Does this building has plinth beam?.

Not sure as I bought the house after the walls are plastered. Builder said there are plinth beams.
