Wood for Door frames and Main door- Need inputs

Post by newbie81 »

Hi All,
We are checking for wood requirements for Door frames and Main door
Considering Burma teak /Hansur teak for main door and Australian honne for Interior door frames and Balcony doors

Need your inputs on the quality of wood and prices .Reliable Dealers and Carpenters if you have any (appreciate if some one from your experience)

Best Regards

@newbie81,

I purchased local teak wood from Shimoga couple of months back. My requirement was about 240cft and I bought logs of 270cft. Got it cut and transported the cut sections to site. My price was close to 3100/cft. The problem with local teak is that logs will be generally smaller. The final finish after polishing of local teak would be definitely better than Burma teak. Not worth going all the way to Shimoga if you wood requirement is small.

Burma teak should cost 3200-3400/cft in Bangalore. If you need dealer for wood, you can contact my carpenter Mariyappan - 9341435085. His rates are definitely higher but quality of work is superb.

Honne should be in the range of 1900-2100/cft.
