density wise AAC block may float on water, but it may wick more water . Chances are that the vendor can easily dismiss the latter demonstrating the former fact , reality is that the two phenomenon are different.
The capillary action needs to be accessed . Get a sample block ,partially immerse it (apply weight on top if required) check the weight before and after a day.like wise you can compare other brick alternatives. If feel your wall after years should not look damp with patches of paint and putty peeling off . This is more important than savings in steel ,labour, sound and thermal insulation when it comes to choice of bricks.
