UPVC windows : Fimen vs Fenesta?

JFYI- Fenesta windows were twice as expensive as LG without even considering Teak finish. It certainly looks awesome.

On airflow front, certainly casement is better than sliding for same size (irrespective of UPVC /wood) provided one keeps it fully open. That said, my observation and inputs from my architect has been that practically most people dont keep their casement windows fully open to get the benefit as you need to extend your hand to open it/close it. Also, mosquito mesh is very difficult to operate in the case of casement windows (wood or UPVC) and that was a requirement for me.

Agree that wood needs more maintenance than UPVC.

rkrishna, How many days from the time you placed the order with LG to the time they came and installed?

I have only placed the order. Plastering is not yet complete at my site and hence LG folks have not yet come to take the measurement. They promised 45 days from measurement to install.

I got all casement windows for ground floor and first floor. Basement (because of space constraints had to get sliding). Given that we have both, I totally prefer the casement. It is harder to open them fully (in some of the windows - since I have large ones), but love the feel when they are open. I do have mosquito net, but still love to keep it open (just have to be careful to seal the net again after the opening/closing).

We got Fenesta windows (but that was 2 years back, and at that time, when I checked others there were issues with delivery etc. Fenesta worked out well. We selected the teak finish and the windows look gorgeous.

The reason for searching high and low for UPVC and paying the premium was that I wasn't too happy with the way wood windows look after a few years (particularly in places where the sun hits it and most windows do get a lot of sun) and I agree maintenance is higher - if you don't paint/polish them regularly, the windows look all worn out and make the whole house look old and unkempt.

I placed the UPVC window order once the structure was complete. Plastering needs to be completed before taking measurements for UPVC windows.

The price depends on a lot of details including size of the window, glass thickness, type of window etc etc.

I think my average was around 650 Rs/sq feet. I had mostly sliding windows but a few openable type. A couple of my windows also had double thickness glass.

I am currently contemplating between Fenesta and Veka for UPVC windows.

I wish to know the quality difference between these two, since Veka claims to be better brand and marginally cheaper, being a German Company and carrying various multinational certifications for quality.

Is Veka in India comparable to Fenesta in terms of hardware, fittings etc.? Fenesta claims to provide European made hardware and Veka Chinese make.
