planning to have outdoor staircase railings on the side of the steps (waist slab) rather than on the steps with MS steel. would be using a circular plate (as in the image) on the side to hold the vertical rods of the railings. the question is how much thick should the circular plate be to hold the vertical rods of the railings? any recommendations?
Staircase railings
Re: Staircase railings
Though I don't have any idea on this, I was only wondering what could be the use of doing this? I think you want wide steps and hence do not want to compromise by giving railings on the steps. But I am only concerned about the stability. Do you think circular plates can hold the weight of say a man climbing up with loads of support on the railing?
Re: Staircase railings
nagzzz -- seems like this is a standard and should be able to support the load and many folks do it. the question is about what kind of specification should be use for the circular plate.
