Did you get any quotes from him. I would be completing my stilt floor roof next week and need to quickly decide on which 6" bricks i will be using.

I enquired at Anjeneya Bricks near Whitefield as suggested by somebody on this forum and got the attached quotation. 6 by 8 by 16 is approx Rs 60. If i am not saving too much when compared to weinerberger, i might as well go for the branded one.

regards.

After posting this i just spoke to dileep from wienerberger and he said he will deliver 6 by 8 by 16 for Rs 15 per piece. I am not sure what i am missing.
I did ask him about the prices and he quoted the prices as 60 Rs, 50 Rs and 40 Rs depending on the size. As I remember him saying that length and height of bricks is same but only width differs.

I have done extensive research between Porotherm blocks from Wienerberger and ABT. Infact, i had visited the factory of ABT in whitefield. ABT blocks have bends and finishing is not that good. Finally i decided to go with Wienerberger. The blocks come in the following sizes and approximate prices exclusive of transport and taxes below.
16*8*6 - rs 50/-, 16*8*8- rs 58-60/- (The first two for outer walls), 16*8*4 rs 40-42/- (for inner walls). The blocks can also be left unplastered, like I am planning to, and can be laid in Vertical/ Horizontal setup.

I don't think Wienerberger has load bearing blocks or have plans to introduce them. The only other exposed options are Solid clay bricks or Stones.

If i use clay hollow blocks for internal walls without plastering, whats the sound proofing i would get compared to cement blocks or normal bricks. Did anyone inquire about it? I would like to have good sound proofing between rooms.

using filler material in the holes will give you very good Sound proofing in my opinion. Hay/ Mortar/ sand etc as filler. Check with Wienerberger sales contact.
