Akrama Sakrama challenged in high court

Post by msn1270 »

Jayanagar resident CN Kumar moved the high court on Monday, seeking a direction to the government against proceeding with the notification of the proposed Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Regularization of Unauthorised Developments) Rules, 2013, popularly known as Akrama Sakrama.

“The government has proceeded to notify the amendment to the KTCP Act by introducing what is colloquially referred to as Akrama Sakrama. The amendment contemplates regularization of violations in land-use, giving a go-by to provisions under section 14 A. The government’s action in permitting regularization of land-use violations, undermining of the MPC (Metropolitan Planning Committee) and creation of the Vision Group violate the law,” the petitioner said.

The government set up the Vision Group on March 4 mandating it to come up with an integrated vision for development of Bangalore. Transport minister R Ramalinga Reddy was chairman, and urban expert and Janaagraha founder Ramesh Ramanathan was executive chairman of the body.
