TMT steel bars

Post by girish1984 »

Hi All,

Have started with the digging for placing of footing and columns.
Am in dilema which steel tmt bars to put.

My doubt is ,If the steel is ISI standard then can i put any steel tmt bars ?
Some of the ISI standard bars : Pulkit,Azad,Gopala,Vinyaka,Indus.

Indus is costlier than all the steel bars mentioned above.
Am planing to go with Pulkit(500 TMT,ISI) which is 46000/- per ton.

Please let me know your valuable suggestions.

Thanks

Indus has reduced its price from last week and is available for 49500/tonne.I don't think so 3000 to 4000 rs / tonne will make a significant difference for your project so why don't you go for the best steel available in the market ? I believe in not making compromise in steel , cement and sand as its very important to use the best in the market otherwise using cheap material will be in your head for your entire lifetime.

If money is something that you want to save then there are so many avenues to save but not in steel/cement.

@ausraja:Thanks for the reply .

But the engineer says all the materilas used for making steel is the same.It just the brand name "INDUS" people will go with.
INDUS will give the correct dia of steel.(16mm,10mm exact)

As you said, using cheap materials will keep on falshing in my head for life time.

Thanks will go with INDUS then.

right decision , There are other places where you can save but not in steel and cement as its the bone and flesh of your building. If you want goto Indus website and see the comparison they are doing with other steels.

My contractor said the same to me but when i said use Indus/ultra tech or i will look for another contractor then he agreed.Basically u build a house for you and not for the contractor.I would also advise to use steel that's shining and not rusted ones.
