No other approvals required to demolish the house, however you will have to surrender your existing electric meter (if any) to Bescom.

Thanks Sunil, managed to get the info from the web too and spoke to him...(new confusion: I am hearing about an "oil salwood" that is supposedly better than white sal for frames :) More googling)

Hi
Everybody
I thank everyone for their updates, its really helping each and every person , , because every one is new to this strange experience. Well I am starting my house on March 1st week, my drawing r ready, and started purchase WOOD, and store it for season. As per my survey Honne is best for my option, teak at only selected places, buying teak original is quite challenging? I heard most of people sell TEAK, but its not
It looks like teak grains? My carpenter not happy with number of mills at mysore road
So best is honne.any suggestions r welcome

I have a basic question - why is teak preferred for main door and windows? as i understand teak is a soft compared to other woods and that's why carvings can be made on them, apparently the purpose of main door should be to server security and not to display carvings. If we have such a teak door, the thickness of the door varies at places and it is even easy to make a hole through it using hacksaw blade. Polish on teak will dull after few seasons, painting will defeat the whole purpose of its elegant looks. I agree if teak is used for interior items like pooja doors / beading of showcase etc.

I would prefer to go by some hard wood instead and with same thickness all around, i see no use of having teak windows which is a simply waste of money.
