Here is the long sad story...sorry it is not a story, it's a real experience.
Where to start ? How to tell a long story in a short way ? I am poor at it and in fact i am good at the other way round, you can see that from my earlier posts.
I am sorry if a long story becomes a long, long story or a boring story for some. but i need to put forward what all happened all the real facts and truths with no editing.... I may complete the story in two three posts (episodes) if it becomes too long , hope you guys used to watch never ending TV serials...ready guys.. let us take off....
Episode 01:
We were a family of three just two years back, me, my wife and my son living in a own house bought around 20yrs back .It is on a plot of 30x34 with two independent

As I posted earlier, all your posts have helped me learn a lot. And they would be of use when I plan to go ahead with construction of my house.
Looking forward to the next Episode on your experience with the Architecture. I am in the process of deciding on an architect. Therefore this learning would be very helpful.

Re: My Dream House Construction Experience
Hello Shiv,
In our case rain water harvesting is used for ground water recharging and not for any domestic use, for that we will be using BBMP kaveri water and bore well water.
Rain water harvesting well is made in our car parking area .The following are the steps they have done so far and I feel they need to do few more steps before it is complete.
Step 01: they made a pit digging the earth for about 10 to 12 ft and diameter of 3.75 ft.
Step 02: Inserted cement rings of diameter 3.25 ft of thickness around 4" or 5'' up to
ground level ,number rings used is around 8 or 10 ,don't remember exact numbers.
Step 03: filled the exterior of the rings with 40mm jelly and mud.Interior is empty.
Step 04: they connected an out let from the pit to the storm water drain of BBMP ( mane munde charandi ) with sufficient slope around 4" to 6" This is over flow for excess water during heavy rains.
Step05: covered the well with a 5" thick concrete circular slab, casted on site by the
mason. now it's level matches exactly with car parking floor level.
This is what is done so for, note that they have not yet connected any inlet to the well. I think they will do it at later stage. The rain water will be filtered before it is connected to the well. How exactly all this will done ,i have no idea now and i will let you know ,once it is done.
Here are some links regarding RWH for further help.

Re: My Dream House Construction Experience
Dear All,
As mentioned two days back, today we were suppose to complete the first floor concrete using RMC. We were ready with all our team (mestri, mason, shuttering /bar bending/ electrician) and at the last moment RMC guy calls me saying they are not able come as they are not getting sand due to strike. Disgusting, they came today morning to check the site and told that by evening 4:00pm they will come and ditched at the last moment
Since all the workers are going for pongal, we have to stop the work for another week or so.

Hello to All,
@Sachin : It is around 6 to 8ft , if you want exact distance i need to measure and tell you,so give me some time.
some one was telling me that, we can do RWH well with borewell as center of the RWH well, when i told the same to our plumber who is in charge of RWH thing ,he said he will not do that way it will be risky so it is done in a near by place.
@ Sunil : So sad to hear , but don't worry it's always like that in construction projects, things will take it's own time and route.
So one more important thing we should have during construction of a house apart from money is patience. The more money and more patience will lead to a better house.

Re: My Dream House Construction Experience
Hello,
As I said in my previous post, we should we have lot of patience in addition to lot of money to construct a house, we require both more than what we have presently with us, so we need to build them first to build a house.
Never hurry things to happen , let it take it's own time. don't tell your contractor you don't have time and patience and to speed up things. I told mastery to reach a roof level stage before they go on Sankranthi leave, In a hurry to reach that stage they started shuttering work for lintel immediately after completing the walls not giving any time for curing . To see the result of it ,see the pics below ,how the wall blocks loosened while hammering the nails for shuttering.
Though not a big issue according to him , says we will remove those loosened blocks after lintels and construct it again . Now my question is what about all other blocks which slightly loosened not able to see with our naked eyes. Don't you think the other blocks adjacent to the loosened block are affected at all ?

Re: My Dream House Construction Experience
Hi Sunil,
I am also in same situation. yesterday i have contacted several ready mix suppliers, no one is ready to come. they says, yesterday onwards, normal truck owners also joined in strike. In my opnion , it will be better wait till samkranti, so sand lorry strike may call off by that time. i heard today again there will be meeting with goverment. let us hope things will set right.
@Setty sir, as we know curing is very importent thing, we should not leave to workers, at least once we ourselves should do that, because no body else will have interest other than owner
