Is there a way to get approximate estimate of construction materials required for building house.
If we need to build 30x40 3 floors building (G + 1 + 2) , 8sqrsfeet per floor, compound, sump, column based.
How much of the below materials are required?
a. Number of Cement bags
b. No of Sand Loads
c. Iron/Steel
d. Jelly stones.
e. Brics
Thank You.

Even I am looking for this information. You can find some information from the ACC Home Construction Guide and Tata Home Construction guide located at:
https://sites.google.com/site/arjunwebw ... nstruction
I think from the length, breadth, height of the pillars/beams, the concrete volume can be computed and from the cement:sand:gravel ratio, the amount of individual components can be computed. Some one may have an excel sheet which can give the amount of materials on entering the pillar/beams dimensions etc.

Re: Getting approximation on Construction materials
I have seen the link but i think it should be easy to tell approximation without any calculation is what I thought
Since most of the houses are built on standard size plot dimensions the quantity also will be approximately
same.
Others please comment.

Re: Getting approximation on Construction materials
Hello,
I know about steel only,My engineer said he will be using steel appx. 3.25 kgs/sft of the built up area ( for ex if built up area is 30 square then we need appx 10 tons of steel) ,which is a standard practice it seems with a safety factor of 1.5, some architects take safety factor of up to 2.0 and 2.5 at that time steel consumption may increase accordingly.this is what my Architect said during a discussion.
Hope this helps a little.
