Kitchen Shelf (for containers, etc) depth?

Post by tendlu »

what is the recommended depth for the kitchen shelves where you keep containers and plates (please note this is not the counter slab)?

counter slab should be 2' wide (that is the standard)

If you built cabinets under the counter, then you have the shelves in the cabinets (about 4" shorter i.e 1' 8"). But if you put just shelves under the slab, then you can make it based on your requirements, just don't make it come all the way to the counter width (since then when you stand in front of counter to work, your legs will hit the shelves).

My suggestion would be to make the shelves the same depth as you would a wall cabinet (ie. about 11 to 12").
hope this helps.

I actually wanted to know the kitchen wall (not the one under or over the counter) cabinet depth? (Sorry wasn't clear with my original post)

30 inhes height of wall , after Box thickness and stone of 19mm thick u ll get a height of 32 to 33 inches , width of cabinet is 22 to 23 inches , above counter top if its 15 inches means its enough ,
