Hi All,
I am cheated by my contractor, I am wondering if all of us who are in anguish can share contractor's name/area/number - so that
our mybda member have knowledge of these , just in case if can help any one.

can you just brief on what happened as it enables others to be cautious over the same?. Regarding listing the name all contractors civil/electrical/plumbing list to be uploaded so that everybody knows as i am sure everybody will be get cheated at least once during the construction period. This forum has been a blessing giving lot of inputs so that at least to some level we aware before going ahead, but still on personal level we get cheated as contractors being bad which we cannot assess initially.

I too agree on maintaining the list of contractor's who cheats the customers. I am right now going through mental harassment with a contractor who's executing almost 20 plus residential projects in Bangalore. Even he's threatening physically the day I pointed out his mistakes which affected his ego. I am waiting for the final 5% of work that need to be completed and then will settle down and will release his name to the forum.

Hi , I too got cheated by my contractor(also supposed to be architects) of around 10 lakh rupees. They also did not complete the house. They are a husband and wife duo in Chikkalasandra. They have cheated many folks. I would want to disclose the names. How do we plan to disclose their names?

After being in this (house construction) phase for about 6 months .
I am getting a sense that people from chittoor - speaking Telugu - are most untrusty . Beaware if you are dealing with them.
I am sorry if I am offending anyone here - I had multiple instances of getting cheated.

Can we upload a list of the blacklisted contractors with brief details about how they cheated. It can be kept in the upload section and people can update their experiences. Also, we can add reference for RELIABLE contractors and people can post their happy experiences also. The RELIABLE contractor would be very useful for people starting construction.

Civil contractor who cheated me is
Name : GunaShekara - Aged around 33 - speaks Kannada and Telugu
Area : He operates around Uttharahalli , purnapragna Layout.

How they cheat: ( I did not have an agreement in writing when agreeing on work details) - never trust 'any one' when you are constructing an house.

I said 5-by-5 for pillar footing (10pillars) - is did 4*4 for 5 pillars - said mud was strong there.
He was reluctant to dig paya (for the foundation) saying plinth will take load.
I had reason of rats and tree roots around my plot and few more reasons which I dont remember now - for which I insisted on.
He digged one feet deep for paaya and put the watch-man to do paaya masonry. Paya work was disgusting - there was no shape to that.
He has only 3 masons - whom he swaps between projects . He takes away mason on his bike in between work - when another project owner scolds him.
I said 6K capacity sump is required - he made 5K capacity tank.

I was unhappy with work quality - and asked him to stop work .
In the end he charged me in per sft for the work done. I was happy to pay my fine for selecting a bad contractor.

PS: This happened 4 months back - so I confirm that I have not written this impulsively

Chandu and Shreeram, looks like all teh cheaters are in this area only. There is also an architect duo (husband and wife) who operate in Uttarhalli, who are big time cheats.
Please ensure that you enter into an agreement specifying every detail so that you do not get cheated. Guys, but let me tell you one thing, these contractors and architects are very experienced in cheating people that they have even lawyers backing them. BE CAREFUL. Even I got cheated as I did not have an agreement done.
DO NOT GO BY THE SWEET WORDS OF THESE ARCHITECTS (mentioned above) OR CONTRACTORS.

Chandu, Bidappa, Thanks for sharing the info. We can also list down contractors, architects, structural engineers with whom we had pleasant experience. If not pleasant then satisfactory experience, atleast they did not intentionally cheat. There would be some shortcomings in any project but if overall one is reasonably satisfied then we can list down the names of the contractor, architects and structural engineers. This would immensely help people who are looking to build their house. This list can be maintained area wise like East Blore, West Blore, etc.
