@Maheshvivid: Thanks. That is more generous and honest opinion regardless of the fact that you were using SCB. It is good that you are putting so much effort to visit places to see how they get these blocks manufactured...what scares most of us here is "can we get quality product regardless of brick or scb?"...just for the sake of saving little money and time we don't want to end up with lower quality scb's and on the other hand we do not want to spend additional money for brick unless the quality of the material is upto the mark...it is little tricky and complex situation for any house owner including me...too many choices lead to confusion :-)

kraghum: Is this "fly ash brick" are you talking about?? would you be able to provide additional details about CSEB. Appreciate your input....my only concern of trying something new is how much my builder and his team knows about these new product/technology...most of the construction crews are very comfortable with traditional red brick and SCB constructions but something beyond is always challenging task to experiment especially on our own house

Saravana

Nope it not Fly ash bricks, it's CSEB,

what i observed is there are Mestry/Master craftsmen who do only these kind of work, and contractor or Architect will outsource the work to them, couple things to notice is
- Check mud quality, you can use any mud, but how much binding material required can be know by testing,
- Quality control during making bricks
- Always take Mud from 2ft below top surface
- Since i am giving full contract, any saving that i get is not directly getting to me (like construction will be faster, saving of cement etc)
- if you plan to leave any wall un plastered that will save you cost, but labor charge will be increased since they need to spend some work in correcting corners "Pointing"

we can get good quality of red mud from Doddaballapur, but paying money for mud from such a long distance will forgo the basic reason of using local available material. so i can procure one full tipper load for 1500 from local building sites

Raghu,

Earlier I did little research on google to find the source for CSEB in blr. However most of the links pointed to Auroville in Pondicherry. Are you making bricks on your own at your site ( I mean the contractor is making them out of your site)?? I looked at the link and the houses are looking great...Any rough cost how much it cost/sq.ft with this method...Thnx.

Yes contractor is making Bricks at our site, attached a comparative estimates given by my architect for Brick/Cement/CSEB. this is considering 50% of outer walls are not plastered, 100% of inside walls are plastered

Dear Raghu, Thank you for the the price list shared,it indeed gives a good idea of pricing.Could you please tell me on the quality of the items used for those pricing as well? Like for Windows and Doors , what kind of wood used? What kind of flooring?( granite,marble.. etc?.Also what is your plot dimension and built up area considered? Details on same would be highly useful to me ,a siam looking forward to start construction within next 1-2 months.

-regards

plot size is 40*40, corner site (because of site position we are getting 140 sqft more now. wood assumed as of now is engineered Acasia (Teak only fro front door), Jaisalmer Green Marble (120 Rs/Sqft). for electrical and Sanitary we have assumed 7% of total cost for each (9Lakhs, premium fittings), exept bath/SANITA all otehr material are chossen based n function rather than general trend (eg Hourdi blcoks for celing etc). built up area is almost 28sq
