Woodwork for a newly constructed flat
Re: Woodwork for a newly constructed flat
Sorry I read justy now that you have mentioned the material as particla board. Your guy is crazy and atleast the kitchen wont last more than 6 months if made of particle board. Which company hinges is he using? Hettich? Hafele? Please ask the brand name as its important. These days they use chinese made material by calling it imported(actually it is imported if we think about it) but dont make that mistake it wont last long.
Ask him to use only BWP ply wood and then take rates from him. Make sure its good company ply.

Re: Woodwork for a newly constructed flat
Thanks for the quick response,
The above quote to complete the entire work.
Regarding hinges, he told some company name and I am not sure of it now, but I am sure it is not imported one like Hettich (he was quoting around 40k / kitchen draw) / Hafele.
Where can i find rates for plywoods / grades. Is it worth going for a carpenter, supply the material myself and get the work done.
Any idea howmuch would be the labour charge ?
Thanks

Hi Vijayakumar,
What budget interiors you are looking for .The rate your interior guy quoted are cheapest (sure he uses cheapest material). Are you looking for your own occupancy or rent it out?
Go for good plywood based wardrobes and BWP in kitchen. If you need any details get in touch with me on my mail.

Re: Woodwork for a newly constructed flat
About 8 months back I have started the wood work in my house. ~ About 600 sft of wood work was done including the lofts, kitchen cabinets. I brought mainly National and Costa Plywood and ply (for the boxes ply and doors plywood) and majority of them are marine grade. Also, I got National laminates for both internal and external (0.8mm for internal and 1mm for external). I used Hettich hinges.
For total wood work I spent like 4Lakhs for both the Material & Labor charges.
Also, recently my carpenter was quoting about 950 sft for the material contract for some of my neighbors. I was not asked him for the exact details/breakup.
Just FYI. Hope this may help you in your budget planning.

woodwork/wardrobes
Hi,
I am planning to do wardrobes in my home.
I dont know anything about carpentry /woodwork.read through this forum and have got some insight abt the materials .this forum is very helpful for novice like me.
Coming to the point.today I visited couple of plywood shops and got the following rates
all rates are per sft and in Rs:
19mm greenply -105
6mm greenply-47
19mm greenply block board
19mm alpine commercial-70----water resistant-90
19mm alpine block board -comm-60----water resitant-79
6mm ply comm --36 water resistant-42
0.6 asis laminate -390
0.7 star india-375
0.8 asis/olive-560
laminate ranging from 950 per sheet and above
fevicol- 50kg --7322
stainless steel cot hinges(6 holes one -not hettich)16 rs each
handles range from 50
r the above rates reasonable?
could anybody suggest a wholesale shop in and around marathalli/whitefield area.
carpenter rates per sft vary from 150 (single side laminate)to 450 for labour
Request suggestions for finding a good carpenter who does a good decent job.
I am confused how to find a good and reasonable carpenter.
If anyone has a good carpenter reference/s please share their contacts.
I will update with my work.
thanks in advance
