Hi All,

I just joined this form, even though I was reading through some of the threads.
I stay in hebbal and am looking for good timber yards for buying sal/honne/teak wood.
Can anyone suggest me good and trust-able timber yards in north bangalore near to hebbal area?

Thanks in advance,
Raman

avoid the north of hebbal stretch. look for something towards KR Puram or Mysore road. Also, do acquaint yourselves in formulas in calculating the CFTs for logs & cut pieces.

Thank you very much for your response m3_07.
From this thread I can see that many of us have bought the wood from Krishna Timber Yard near K R Puram railway station.
Any other references please?

Also, I need one more suggestion for this forum. My house will have a big window and a ventilator that will be part of the front elevation. For this window and ventilator, my architect has suggested that we retain the brown color of the wood which would matched or jell well with my elevation.
Here I assume that I may have to get the wood I use here polished. As this is exposed to the outside climate, can you please suggest me what wood I should opt for the elevation part as it has to retain the natural brown color. Or any other alternatives I can think of, considering it should not shoot up my cost compared to any wood option?

Thanks in Advance

you could also visit mahalakshmi. he is one of the biggest importer in the city.

teak is the "only wood" that can be polished. hence, you will not have much of a choice in here.

PS: one of my neighbours has imported a big lot of window glass/ frames from china & he says that the quality & the price is unmatched against the local supplies. if any of you are exploring such options, you might consider this too. i am not familiar with the importing process & hence will not be of much assistance on this !!

I got mine from Royal Timber in Ganganagar (near Hebbal). I am very happy with the wood and the price at that time was quite competitive. He was helpful in all aspects from purchase to delivery to getting additional (for the beading etc. - he personally brought it home for me). My carpenter told me many times about the teak I got being very high quality. (I have to caveat this - we were familiar with the owner of the company).
