Re: Construction material prices
@ BengaluruBoy, I purchased Honne from Laxmi Timbers in Chandapura.
Btw, I had been to Jigni to have a look at some Granite stones. There are hundreds (Over 500 perhaps!) of Granite dealers, and the prices start from Rs.55 per sq.ft to 500 depending on the finish & distance from where the stone is imported from.
A Must See place for anyone planning to lay Granite flooring for their house.

@ Maheshvivid,
Just check multiple vendors in Jigni, Every vendor has different quotes. I was surprised what one vendor quoted me Rs.250, the same was offered at Rs.120 in a different vendor! So I believe the best way is to check around a dozen vendors and make the final call.

I got the following discounts for Vitrified Tiles at Chhabria & Sons (Commercial Street):
(The dealer says that the discount is dependent on quantity ordered, but I am sure it is also possible to strike a deal (or better deal))
NITCO Tiles: 11%
CHINA Tiles: 12%
RAK Tiles: 9% (So far couldnt find any vendor who could match this).
DURATO Tiles: 8%

Re: Construction material prices
I checked few shops for kitchen counter top granite nearby mahadevapura area. price ranges too much between shops.
40mm thick & width 24" category.
Any other technical details need to be checked?. I got quote at different shop.
1. Rs 160 - Hasan green / 170 Rs Black - - Half nosing - Rs 40
2. Rs 130 - Hasan green / 140Rs Black - Half nosing - Rs 60
3, Rs 160 Rs - Hasan green / 260 Rs black - Half nosing - Rs 40
I planning to go with Black color granite, But 3rd shop claims Jet cutting with true black will be costlier and no other shop will be giving his quality. I don't know, whether any quality difference ? Anyone bought recently.

Re: Construction material prices
I have not purchased granite stones, but just went to enquire the rates and options. Talking to a couple of dealers, they informed me that Granite is porous when used as a Kitchen slab, so you need to add a coat of sealers so that it does not stain. I also came across Engineered Quartz (Available from Asian) which can be used for Kitchen slabs. The sales person from Asian informed me that Quartz is a much better option (available in multiple colors) and also stronger than granite, and suitable for kitchen sinks. (Costs about Rs.480 per sq.ft for 30 mm thickness, comes in 10' X 4.6' size).
Can someone shed more light on the best material to be used for Kitchen slab (for a Modular kichen)? .

Re: Construction material prices
Been using granite for 12 years now.....i just love its properties. Pick up a good quality stone & it will serve for life. I am again looking out for granite now & have place order at a shop close to yelahanka. My take on the survey so far:
1. Jigani: Epoxy coating experts. Price is very varying & hard to know what the actual price is. Have surveyed close to 30 yards at Jigani.
2. Hosur: The situation is extremely bad. Been to hosur & beyond - place called SAPDI, closer to krishnagiri. The power situation in TN has inflated the prices over 30%. They hardly have new stock & again the prices keep varying across the yards.
3. Hosur - TAB INDIA - Very good processing unit. The price there is genunine. However, they deal only with Gangsaw slabs. Price ranges between 120 to 1200/ SFT.
4. Madurai belt: The stones in this region have high iron content. Over a period of time in about 3 years, you will see rust stains over the stone.
5. Andhra region - Cut throat opportunists. Looking at the situation in TN & the demand requirement in Bangalore, they have resorted to almost any grade of unethical practices that one can think of.
I have placed order at Floors & walls, a showroon on the way to yelahanka, just before L&T. They have over 6 yards in bangalore & have found price to be reasonable.
40mm hassan green - 140/ SFT with mirror finishing.
Kitchen sink - hassan green - 2'x2' @ 4900 - mirror finishing.
