blrsiteseeker wrote:I got a similar estimate of rs. 6 lakhs for 4 wardrobes. I decided to go a slightly different route on that though. We have the wardrobes designed slightly larger than normal, so I could put a wall and a door (as if it were a room). Now for interior organization, I got elfa shelving. It came out to rs. 1 lakh total for the 4 bedrooms, + a coat closet and a utility shelf. I prefer these, since there will be light and air through the wire shelves and to me somehow the woodwork (if you use for shelves) smell after a few years. The alternative of moth balls and cedar chips were not very enticing.
if you are interested, check out elfa at - http://hsw.co.in/elfa_about.html (there is one store in Mantri Mall Malleswaram, but I guess there may be many more).
Thanks blrsitseeker..that was helpful indeed.
I will go and see the Elfa shop.
By the way could u please explain if they do have doors like(wardrobe)to cover the shelves..
and if so one lac covers the same?

Re: Modular Kitchen
no, there are no separate covers other than the wall for the room and one single door. It is just shelves inside the room. I preferred it that way though.

Re: Modular Kitchen
Let me try this. I had a complete contract with the carpenter, and only remember the total price I paid (not a break down of materials and labor etc.).maheshvivid2003 wrote:@blrsiteseeker

Chimney and hob I got Faber - hob was 12000 , chimney - 14500 (inclusive of installation and pipes for chimney ducting etc.)
Baskets we got from Mahaveer Hardware in Rajajinagar (I don't remember the brand name for that), handles also were from Mahaveer Hardware - it was about rs. 90 per piece or so.
Hinges - hettich.
Sink - I got a futura sink (double bowl), which I am not so pleased about. I was told it is a full stainless steel sink with a matt finish. the matt finish looks so dull that it does not look like steel at all.
Granite - I got it from Magadi Road - not sure of the price now (I bought many different things at one time and hence the lapse in memory). It is not completely black, but slightly patterned. I could not tell the size exactly (since we bought everything in a lot). Our counter is fairly long and I could not get one single slab, there is one joint in each length (total length is 14' one wall, and 12' the other wall, 2' wide).
Wall tiles - were digitized tiles by Kajaria (from Sunrise in West of Chord Road near Padmavathi Kalyana Mantap). again, I cannot tell you the price exactly. They are 1' x 9" tiles, white, but with some light designs on it (so that it does not have a hospital antiseptic look).
Plumbing & Fittings - fittlings I got a Kohler pull out faucet with a sprayer. I think it was rs. 2500 (but I may be off).

Re: Modular Kitchen
we used rubber wood for the entire thing. Plus he laminated the inside boxes, so it is easy to clean and maintain. LIke I told you the entire contract was paid for at one time. The reason I know the price of the handles is because I went to select it. I don't know the price of the hings, sorry.maheshvivid2003 wrote:@blrsiteseeker thank u very much for replying

Hi blrsiteseeker,
I saw on the website, but it appears none of the ward robes are covered. At the end of the day one would expect the wardrobes to be covered and also some safe lockers in the wardrobes. Will be awaiting for pictures...
Thanks,
Yash
