wooden flooring for staircase

i would like to go for wooden flooring on stairs of my duplex house, which kind of wooden flooring is more durable (laminated/engineered/solid wood) and suit staircase area, if we opt for it are the staircase railings put before or after the flooring?

I believe it needs solid (teak? sal?) wood. I am yet to check with my builder.

Aries31 - the picture you showed is not solid wood, there will floating concrete over which the wooden sheets are laid. You will need decent thickness of wood, but could get away with having concrete slabs for each step, laminated with wood.

Deep82, these days, engineered and laminated wood is quite good. I hear that engineered wood has good tolerance to water etc. So you could check that out. I did get engineered wood doors for inside and the look is very nice (although I was apprehensive due to the visibility of the joints. WHich is what actually gives it a nice look).

I have seen similar stairs in a house. They had used a steel structure with wood steps. I am not sure of the type of wood (probably teak?). So I am also looking at similar model. (concrete steps with wood veneer, as you say, could be another option)
