Waterproofing on roof

Post by Vimal »

Hi,

I have a couple of large slope roofs and water proofing needs to be done. The surface of the slope roof is rough and not even. The applicator says if he applies water proofing chemical on such rough surface it will not serve the purpose. He is suggesting to go for roof plastering and then he will apply water proofing chemical. I am not sure if this is correct and effective. Any ideas how to go about ?

Thanks

Waterproofing on roofs and on toilet floors Ida much talked topic that is often not carried out properly in many buildings giving rise to leakages later. I came across an article on various brands used in India which I am pasting here...http://www.nbmcw.com/products/waterproofing-repair/28690-sustainable-waterproofing-technology-protecting-concrete-and-environment.html

Also I found an article on a gov of Singapore portal on construction which you can find by googling www,bca.gov.sg and "waterproofing concrete roof".

I have seen many constructions abroad using a thin geo-textile membrane which is "welded" at the joints, tested by holding water for 24 hours or so, and then final finish flooring done.
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on....
