Electrical conduit pipes

Post by palmut »

Hi,

Is the electrical conduit PVC pipes market, brand-driven. I don't see a big brand presence as like the CPVC/PVC pipes in the plumbing domain. My electrician suggested 'National VIP'. Wanted a feedback from the group on how good it is & or there any better options.

Thanks

Yes, there are lot of fakes around in VIP National. I had got about 45 pipes in two lots recently and in the 2nd lot the pipes were fake. (The electrician bites the pipe and it develops a crack, and says this is duplicate; this has silver hologram). I returned the lot and got it exchanged. (This had blue hologram as in my first lot). This did not develop a crack when the electrician bit the pipe and he said this is original. Btw, I paid Rs.35 for 1 lenght 3/4 inch pipe.

Apart from VIP national, there is one more good brand universal.I had paid Rs.47 (1") during my basement molds. My electrician insists it is better to go for 1" pipes in slabs.

As Mahesh & Jolly has said there seems to be a lot of duplicates in the market. I checked around 3 shops and all of them quoted around 26-28 rs for 3/4 inch pipe. They say it is vip gold and not national and i do see the name 'vip' being imprinted on the pipe. when i hear from the members that they had paid 45 rs for the same, something seems to be amiss. by the way the one I checked has a silver hologram on it

I purchased this from an electrical supplier in Bommasandra (near Hebbagodi).
Btw, remember that for all the pipes including fake ones there will be VIP printed on them along with a hologram. The best way as I noticed from my electrician is the bite the pipe and check if this develops a crack. In case it does, it is a duplicate. The original ones never developed a crack no matter how hard you bite it and it just had the tooth marks. :)
So it is better you get this checked before you purchase.

Guys - Checked with the manufacturer (national) and got to know that they do have a office in Chickpet. They offer 15% discount and will offer more if your are ordering in bulk. I got the lead for a couple of dealers from their chickpet office and while enquiring at these shops, got to know that 1'' pipe costs 67 Rs (1 inch * 2mm) & 45 Rs (0.75 inch * 2 mm). I believe this is what an original national vip pipe will cost.
