Elementary question on plastering

I was under the impression that initial plumbing work (including groove
cutting) should be done before plastering. However, my engineer is
saying that it is better to do this after plastering. His reason is that
GI pipes should be used atleast for the concealed portions and after
plastering the inner 4.5" walls would have increased in thickness. This
would facilitate groove cutting for the GI pipes.And GI pipes are
best for the runs through the wall because then we will not
accidentally drill or cut through them.

Any comments ?

Not true. it should be done before plastering

For 4" wall it is better to go for rough plastering, it helps in 03 way
1. While groove cutting generally the wall gets punctured and weakens, rough plaster helps to hold the wall uniformly
2. If groove cutting is done then after dadoing the point of C.P Fittings goes inside and extension nipple around 1" or 2' (generally 1" is required in some places) will be required
3. Rough plaster helps the tile person to the lay the tiles easily

after few days i have to go through this process too
grove cutting for chimney wat is the standard size i have to make ?
cutting charges r extra or it is included in plumbing contract ?

Dear all,

Kindly dont do groove cutting after rough plaster. kindly increase the wall tk by 150mm insist of 100mm. it will save lot of complication and solution for all your problem.
