Porotherm clay bricks

I got the following info from a website comparing Porotherm bricks vs regular brick construction. I have personally seen some houses with this kind of clay bricks and they seem to have a different look. I know that this forum has some very knowledgeable members on the costing ... Can I get some comments if this comparison makes sense and porotherm bricks are worth pursuing as an option?

The costing is around 80 rs per sq feet of wall area. This includes the cost of brickwork and plastering. This is achievable, if you are an engineer constructing a building yourself, paying for materials and labor. If you are getting an engineer/contractor involved, you need to get quotes from him and it may not be as close as you think. The main reason would be due to the cost of labor. Constructing using Porotherm is faster, if you are planning on plastering both sides of the walls, as they do not care about maintaining a straight line. For exterior walls, if you intend to leave the walls unplastered, the masons should take care to maintain a horizontal level, and they have to tie a thread between the 2 end bricks and make sure they use the same amount of cement plaster for all the bricks, this does take some time and the cost of construction of a wall increases.

Go for Porotherm if the features of Porotherm appeals to you. It is a good product and I have used it for my Independent home.

I am planning to visit the showroom of Wienerberger on Richmond Road this week and get more information.

porotherm is the brand I used. the generic term is hollow clay blocks. 80 Rupees is from the calculation above and not what it costed me.

I think bricks in Anjenya is normal bricks if i see them in there sites (9*4*3), but when called heinberg there sizes are big one 8*6*16 by which you can save in labor/material cost as plastering can be avoided/number of joints less since bricks are less etc. means 7 normal bricks = 1 Porotherm bricks. . I feel it is costly as well as 7*5.5 = 38.5 Rupees ,where Porotherm bricks 6" cost 50 Rupees.

Please do share your thoughts as i am laymen on this as heard about this just from this forum
