I have a Item Rate contract (piece work contract) with my contractor.
While settling a recent bill I noticed that he had added 10% to the steel
used for beam/slab/staircase. There is no mention of such wastage
factor in the agreement. So, is this a normal practice ?

Hi,
No wastage added to the steel quantity ,if he adds it then let him show the wastage at site.you can sell the wastage at the 3/4 the price you purchased. In general they use all the waste cut pieces in chajjas, lintels etc..

Item rate quotation will have wastages included in the rate itself. They are not paid for as any extra. Be firm with your contractor he is just trying to make extra money from you.sholla wrote:I have a Item Rate contract (piece work contract) with my contractor.
