As per my architect, he says that there are couple of softwares(STAAD) which shall detail you about the quantity of steel required and the types of it.
Someone, who is an architect by himself/ herself can be the better person to throw some light on this...

Yes....based on the drawings the steel quantity can be estimated. For me, the bar bender + contractor estimated 10T & actual consumption was 9.7T....HOWZ THATTTT??? No softwares, but 20 years of experience.
I would pay heed to structural drawings/ structural engineers only when I am constructing mammoth structures. For the conventional ones limited to 3 floors, if you have the right set of people advising you, you will save these expenses. No offence to the engineers on this board....I am an engineer myself by profession !!

Can we get the estimation on steel (total MTon) for G(50%)+3 floor house (including foundation) on 30x40 site. My architect is telling 15ton ? what is your comment.

This again depends on the size of the columns & number of columns. I am not sure on your design plan....however if you are going for a ground fllor parking, I suggest you to go for a bigger column, which gives you a larger span of over 25 feet. This will help you park more cars side by side.

For got to mention....the prices of steel is going south wards...if you have space to store iron, buy steel during peak monsoon & store.

we contructing a house in 30*40 site g+3 floors
in g floor 14 feet parking n duplex house ie g+1st floor and second n third for 2 bedroom individual house for rent
12 colums n 6 beams... structural drawing is designed for g+3floors
i have already spent 2 tons steel for colums that has come to lintel level and footing and plinth beams and 2day asked barbending guy to give the estimation for extending the colums to first floor till lintel level and grond floor roof(moulding), stair case n lintel can be adjusted ... he has given an estimation of 4 tons steel based on structural drawing and he is telling that eng has given too much steel which is not required beams is quite heavy all beams r 20mm n 16mm and he is telling that overall it can be reduced from 4 to 3 tons .. im really confused in this regard
how much steel is required for g+3floors ?
generally how much steel is required for only roof(moulding) ?

be very careful if you are asked to reduce your beam or pillar sizes. If you have any doubts, would be best to pay someone (a consultant perhaps) to check it out before you decide to save on this.
I have heard of many cases where there are a lot of cracks due to skimping on beam or pillar quality (and that might be dangerous). My architect would not even let them cut any pillars (small cuts when I requested some changes to wall layouts), he only allowed a few bores for pipes and other than that - no cuts.

Barbenders and contractors do it on site based on thumb rule and not as per the Engineering involved. Normally they use about 25% less than what is specified. I can tell this by the quantity estimated by my contractor and the quantity given by my consultant for which he gave me detailed bar bending schedule for each and every item.
I believe our properties are our long term investment and we should not ignaore safety and longevity to save some money.
My consultant advised me to go with full steel because of 2 reasons:
1. Contractor saves labour cost if lesser steel is there even though he will charge you the same amount in any case if on per sqft basis
2. The Bar bender may or may not understand the design complexities involved.
