Hi

I am planning to construct house on labour contract. Can anybody suggest best place to get discounted materials?

1. Foundation (i will go with JCB as it saves cost to 50%)
2. Floor Turmites
3. Plumbing materials (Supreme, Jaguar, commode ,Sinks)
4. Electrical materials (Finolex)
5. To cover glass in Roof in centre
6. Carpentary material (Red sale, Honne, Teak)
7. Window/Door metal grills (Primer,Putty, Enamel)
8.Cement ( I will go with near shop as there is no variation comming 320 for 53 grade cement)
9.Tiles and Granite
10. Painting materials (emulsions
11. Sand
12. steel
13. Pebbles

I have inquired some retails shops but nobody is giving good discounts. Can anybody share good wholesale distributors which can be connected for this?

It depends on what stage the present construction work is, the requirements might be different at times.
But you can count me in if anyone of you are planning to buy items in bulk. I have a couple of my sources with whom I can compare the prices and inform if thats the best deal available.

Keerthi, Sam, JollyRogers. My house construction is just starting so I am also interested in buying materials at bulk rates. Please count me in as well. I am especially interested in Bath tiles, fittings, and electrical fittings.

This is one very useful forum where directory can be formed and people can rate based on their personal experiences and will be useful for members. This will reduce the agonies and benefit good vendors and save members from cheaters.

Friends, I found a wholesale dealer for crushed stone aggregates (Jalli Kallu).
He is quoting

19 Rs per cft for 20 mm
13 Rs per cft for 12 mm
9.50 Rs per cft for 6mm
8.50 Rs per cft Dust

Can you please let me know if these rates are the same as what retailers are selling at ? Is it worth buying at this rate ?

Keerthi - I guess that the rates are quite good. The retailers quote 20 Rs per cft for 40 mm and 22 Rs per cft for 20 mm (the best I could get was for 21 Rs for 20 mm). How's the stone quality and are they uniform in size.

@palmut, I wanted a confirmation on the price. Now based on the replies I have got, it seems a good deal. I will take my contractor with me and have the stones checked and let you guys know if its of right quality and size.
