height of plinth and ground from the road

How high the road, the plinth should be and how high the road ground floor base should be?

Ideally, plinth should not be more than 8 inches, do include final finish which would be 3 inches for easy parking of vehicles. But a lot more aspects need to be considered.

@venkyn .. so you mean parking on ground floor should be around 1 feet from the road level.
How about the main house floor? i mean how high should i should have ground floor level from the road level or from the parking level.

Please do consider Bangalore rain as well. I do not want to end up having my car or sofa drenched in water.
