Only Boundary Columns for 30*40 site

Hi All,
Would it be possible to have columns only at the edges/boundaries of the plot, i.e without any columns inside the plot itself for a G+3 on 30*40 site. This would give a lot of flexibility in terms of placing the walls. Also since I plan on having a complete cellar parking, it gives a lot of room to park the cars inside.
Thanks,
Nagendra

try to have a big pillar at the center of the site so that it can take the weight in entire structure. i have seen such a building near Cunningham road.

Yes, that should help give some stability. But I recently saw 1 building with columns only in the boundary. So looks like it is possible. But I dont know how safe it would be.

you can try the best of both. center pillar & pillar on edges & boundary.

It is possible to have columns only at the ends like shown in the attachment. It might increase the cost of the structure of the building.

That pic is very interesting. To optimize that design for my case, I could probably have that center pillar and its beams concealed, underneath the cellar parking floor. That way, I can still park as many cars as possible. But I guess I also need to consult a structural engineer or an Architect, if they have other solutions too.

You will anyway need a central pillar. This picture also has a central pillar. The car parking comes below the beams.

The picture posted here appears to be what is called as a beamless structure of possibly a commercial complex which wont carry too much permanent load so its not applicable to a residential building maybe. Coming to the original question, its best pillar locations are designed by an architect certified by a structural engineer.
