Hi Friends,
I had an issue with borewell motor and the electrician who came to inspect it said that water level in the borewell is not that good especially during the summer months. So I was just wondering if RWH can be used to increase the water level/table in the borewell, or is RWH used only to save water and store it in a tank.

Rainwater harvesting for borewell?
Re: Rainwater harvesting for borewell?
RWH is not just for capturing and storing the water. But mainly to recharge the water body in the earth. in order recharge your borewell, u also need to have sufficient free space around your borewell, so that you can make way to drain water to the earth.
For implementing the same, you can contact Mr. Masagi at 9448379497 or 233399497. For your kind information, this person is not a business person related to RWH. But he is a amateur RWH practitioner in bangalore who is using only rain water for his 5 houses from last 20+ years without using a single drop of water from BWSSB. He can give simple and cost effective solutions on RWH.

I am also in the same situation as you. I had a borewell dug couple of weeks back (680 ft) and water yield is not very good. I am getting around 1000 ltrs per day and I decided it is sufficient for me since I am also going to get cauvery water as well. I am also going to implement a RWH system, but I am not very hopeful that it will increase the ground water level for my borewell. RWH is being touted as a magic bullet for all water woes but the reality is that it will help only marginally.
I read some interesting posts in indiawaterportal.org by scientists who have given very candid assessment on the usefulness of RWH. You might want to check it out..
