With Gang saw slabs, the major advantage is the less number of joints. One thing to bear in mind with Gang Saw is that, these large size slabs are only suitable for ground floor, where you have a large opening to bring these huge slabs and lay them. For higher floors, these slabs cannot be transported on narrow stairs and hence will be cut into smaller sizes, so there is no point in spending lot of money on Gangsaw slabs for higher floors.m3_07 wrote:there are 3 types of slab measurements:
1. Gangsaw - These are big slabs over 8 feet in width. The lengths are again at a minimum of 8 feet. This is expensive as the machines required to process them are expensive.
2. Cutter slabs - Small width slabs between 20 inches to 48 inches in width. These are economical in range.
3. Tile slabs - these are 1x1/ 2x2/ 2x3 in dimensions (feet). These are derived from rejected cutter/ gangsaw slabs.

His point was that cutter slabs were hand polished and gangsaw slabs were polished by machines. His opinion was that the gangsaw slabs have superior polish and the granite looks good for longer
