Yes all the own use building as going for Birla super as, and of course there is a difference in price but quality in good in Birla. As i have seen all the sale building are using priya and Ramco which they are getting for 295/305 rupees, and they used 18K filter sand/8 to 10 mm steels.

Which steel to use?
Is any ISI FE 415 grade ok?
I got the following quotes:
Chamundi, Tapal, WS (all ISI std ) : Rs. 47,500/-
Tata                                                     : Rs. 58,500/-
Indus                                                   : Rs. 52,000/-
My contractor is saying that they are all more or less same, just because of brand we have to pay more.
He is saying Chamundi steel is ok and anyways when we need certain dimension, it may not be available in a particular brand. So we anyways need t switch brand. May I know your views and recommendations?
TATA steel seems very expensive.
Cheers, Jai

Indus - expensive due to branding.
Tata - 500 grade - expendive due to branding again.
Other 415 grades - 90% of them are "re-rolled" - meaning USED STEEL (2nd quality)
500 grades - 99% of them are ORE GRADE (1st quality) - there are many in the market at the same price as chamundi...expand your search.

My 2 cents.

Indus although comes at 52 K per tonne, each Indus rod weighs more than a Tata Tiscon rod. So, if you have bought 50 12mm rods of Indus and Tiscon, the price would be almost the same even though Tata says 58.5K and Indus states 52 K.

My practical experience.

I need about 25 cft of Honne for shutters out of which about 10cft is planks.
My carpenter took me to a timber mart where they quoted 1850 per cft.
They say it is australian honne.
Does this rate look OK ? Any other options in Bangalore south ?
